vrx5 or current cam with tfs 220?
Let me get this out of the way first. Car has all the mods in sig, but I changed from a 3200 to 4000 stall. Will be upgraded to a flt level 4 trans moser 9" towards the end of the build. It will see most of it's time at the strip with an occasional street cruise from time to time.
Just bought some tfs as cast 220's and been brushing up on a good cam for this head. I've been seeing a lot of people running the vrx5 with good results. My current cam is a custom spec by Pat G, not sure what lobes but went through eps to get it if that tells you anything. 234/236, 601/603, 112+4 lsa. The cam I have now isn't to far off from the vrx5, and I'm thinking it would pointless to swap cams at this time since there so close in duration and lift, or would I gain anything from going to the vrx5? Or should I be looking at a bigger cam? I would hate to lose my low end torque, which will come in handy on the street.
Also can't decide if I should go all out and sell my ls6 intake and go with a fast 90/90 for this build. Would I be leaving anything on the table by keeping my 1 3/4" ps, or should I upgrade to some tsp 1 7/8's?
Anyways, I'm shooting for 10's n/a by this time next year hopefully this setup will get me close.
Thanks for looking.

I'd stick with your Pat G/EPS cam, the vrx5 is too close in size to justify the change, and going any larger is going to hurt your current lower torque. I'd go with 1-7/8" headers and at least a FAST 92/92 to get you closer to reaching your EPS cams potential.
FYI, if you ever feel it needs a little more top-end power after all this then just retard the eps cam 2-4 degrees.
Sorry, just realized you have a A4 trans
IMO, the "POLLUTER V2" (239/244 | .62x”/.59x” | LSA112+3) with a 4k stall would be worth doing.

keep the cam you have, the 112 lsa will keep you in and badass idle. the heads will wake it up pretty good. like stated get a 92 and long tubes hell i have TFS 215's and the VRX5 and put down 495 and 430.

Thanks guys, I think I will try my cam out and see how it does. Unless I find something wrong with the lifters when I pull the heads. Looks like I have to start selling some parts to afford new ones...
I probably won't put down 495 since I'm an a4, probably more in the 430-450ish range, but it will be fun as hell! I plan on sending them out to have them milled to bump cr up a bit, and maybe a port job done. Haven't decided on the porting yet. I will have to wait and see how much it will cost first.
When I go to replace my old lifters with new ones, will that hurt the lobes on my cam any? I've heard people say that once you run a lifter and cam together that if you swap one out you have to change the other? Something about the lifter wears lines, or grooves into the cam, and if you were to change the lifters that it would wipe the lobes on the cam out since it's already worn? Just a rumor I heard..
