Default fastest n/a 5.3

anyone know what the fastest n/a 5.3 is? in any chassis? what weight? stock bottom end? i'm starting a project that i'd like to see through...should go 11's with ease...maybe faster?

3400lb thirdgen camaro
5.3 with 232/240 .595"/.609" with stage 2.5 ls6 heads by PRC. 9.2:1 compression
longtubes with single 4" exhaust
vic jr intake with 750 cfm carb
monster stage 3 clutch
tick stage 2 t56
4.11,4.30,4.56?
28x11.5 ET Streets (bias) with tubes and screws on 10" wide wheels

any thoughts?

i think you need to raise your static compression .

yes, this is not a max effort though. simply a get it going with what i have laying around build. i have a 370" motor on the stand getting fixed, the 5.3 is the "spare" motor, lol.

i agree though, if i was to do a max effort 5.3, i'd be looking to get it up to around 11.5:1 or so. or even more and go to e85, but i'm not looking to change up the whole car, lol.

hmm...i do have a set of 4.8 flattops...maybe next go 'round...for now i'll keep what i have.

Even compression in the 10s will be better than that lowly 9.2.

Why not some PRC 5.3s with a .40 gasket for more compression?

The car is not real light. The tire is not all that short. I'd bet it'll want the
4.56 gears and even with the low static compression I'd guess 11.40s in
decent air.

Yeah, I'm not expecting a rocket ship here, just a quick street car using already owned pieces. 11.40is faster than i was thinking.

98supersport is the car in the video.

My car is pretty similar to his.

94 Mustang 3114lbs with driver
5.3L with stock 862 heads
MS3 cam and comp valve springs
Dynatech 1 7/8 headers w/3" exhaust
LS6 intake
E85
TH350 w/FTI converter
275/60/15 MT DRs
3.73s

11.40 @ 117.88 w/1.58 60 on motor
10.58 @ 126.33 w/1.52 60 on 100 shot

the car normally has an 11.5:1 370 in it...i am not looking to change the entire car, just wondering what this junkyard motor will do while i'm freshening the 370.

well, i took it out to the track this past saturday. nothing spectacular to report as i was on a hardtire, and had 200lbs of ballast in the back trying to make it work. i also had never been down the track with a six speed before. fighting traction between the hardtire and the harsh level 3 monster, i was able to get a best of 12.70@113mph, 2.05 60', 3700#s and 730' DA. so far i'm pretty happy with it. i can't wait to get the slicks back on the car and leave off the 2step, as well as get this 200# of concrete out of the trunk, lol!

for the record, i still haven't done much carb tuning, and as of today, i now only have 7 passes under my belt with a stick, and only 2 were clean, lol. i have plenty of work ahead of me, but wanted to share my findings, and not just let this thread die as so many do. i anticipate 11 second capable timeslips before the end of the season.

i'm still months away from being able to spray the car too....i need to redo the wiring in the car, and i want to integrate the system into the car when i do so.
