Default 5.3 cam

Hey guys new to the site. I'm building a 55 chevy truck. The drivetrain is a 2003 5.3 with drive by wire and 4L60E trans. Both Have only 38,000 miles. I want to install a cam for more power. This will be a driver but I really want as close to 400+ horse power as possible with keeping drivability and dependability. Any help and recommendations would be awesome. Thanks.

First of all welcome to LS1Tech. I believe you meant to post this in the Generation III internal engine section. What other mods are done to the truck? What converter? Stock heads?

Take a look at the Comp XR259HR (big on low end torque and midrange) and the XR265HR (Lo-lift version - good bottom, midrange and top end).

The Vinci 210/218 like the "Butt Kicker" and "ASP-Kicker" are nice too.
The 5.3 is very versatile and can easily get you to 400+ horse.

There is a guy with a Camaro on here running a 5.3 with the XR259HR and he is putting out 355rwhp (approx 420 flywheel horses...) on the dyno.

I suggested these smaller cams because I am assuming you actually plan on driving the truck somewhere other than a racetrack....

Quick Reply: 5.3 cam
