Default C6Z vs '13 GT500

Saw this on SVTP, thought I would bring it over here as well.

Yes I am sinning, neither cars are mine...bite me.

From SVTP:

"Had a chance to run a new Shelby last night. Here is the run down on the cars. We only were able to get one run, from the man on the side of the road with a lazer gun.

Race 55mph-155mph

C6Z06 (568whp) - Heads/Cam/Headers/X-pipe/Ported intake and throttle body/Tune
Shelby (730whp) - Pulley/Headers/X-pipe/Throttle Body/3.73 gears/DR's/Tune

Shelby got on the gas a little sooner, better reaction than me . He was able to hold me off until about 130mph, than the vette just jogged by him up to 155mph or so. We will try a lower roll in the future when I have the DR's slapped on the car. Once he put the car into fifth is was lights out for him. We vboxed both cars and they were within inches of each other from 60-130mph. From 130-155mph the vette pulled out 24 feet on the Shelby. Fun race for sure and the Shelby is fast, but the gearing he has hurt him up top."

And here we go.....

the gt 500 is a quick car until you consider the hp difference.

They make big power easily, that's for sure. I'm pretty impressed with them considering they are no 3200lb vette lol.

GT500 should have left stock gear in the car. Christ lethals car traps 148 with the 3.31 gears. And both drivers are sallys. Good race none the less. Basically mt 2 favorite cars going at it.

Im also interested in hearing the 60-130 times

That's what I was thinking too, he said in the other thread he crosses the traps perfectly in 4th though in the 1/4. For a roll the stock would be better for sure though.

60-130 times are in the description if you go to the actual YouTube vid.

lethals car is crossing the traps in third gear at 148mph... The way that car makes tq, 1 less shift at the track would help it, not hurt it.

Wow. At 630rwhp I raced a similar vette and he pulled me by only about 1 car up to 130ish.

Would expect so much more power gt500 would walk.

Guess not.

just read the times... Honestly... i was expecting more from both cars. 60-130 in 6.8 really isnt that fast for both of there power to weight ratio levels.

My buddies rx7 hit 5.9 60-130 and he makes 525whp. Hes actually going for hitting 4s. Also my buddies turbo cobra which was in no way dialed in when he made a run... did it in 6.3. Thats honestly why i like the vbox, its a much more accurate piece for figuring out which car is faster.

My GTO did it in 9.4 seconds. While i know of other stalled auto gtos with the same "whp" as mine that couldnt break a 12.0 60-130.

And since I know you **** will call me out:

You can only see my lights. Shitty vid but you can tell he never pulls away. The vette is a z06: cammed, bolt on, ported intake etc. Made 530ish rwhp.

Theres too many what ifs to even come close to bench racing any of these cars. 2 Different vettes, your car is lighter then the gt500 and has an auto. Everything is just different. Cant compare. But on another note. Good job hanging with the vette

Now the c6z are hard to beat in a straight line when modded. I know it has a weight advantage but Damn it's all motor.

Nice runs. Ya if going to roll race it should kept the stock gearing. Guy said GT500 is setup for the track.

Should keep the stock gearing period. These cars are flying at the track using only 3 gears

Nah.
It's because my car is a boosted 2v.

Still on a serious note, at that power level that GT500 should've won I'd of hoped.... 2 different vettes but both N/A so we can speculate on power curves and how much torque etc they make. Just was expecting more from THAT much power in a gt500. I know at that power level you'd better have a really ******* freak n/a z06 to run with me.

Oh ok, I didn't know it did it in 3rd. In that case, stock gears for sure.

I can see a bolt on z with a good tune running with you in a roll race. The faster you go the more it would creep up on ya. Lol

Evolution used 4.10's in there 8 sec 13 GT500

But ya to me less shifting is better. Same reason auto 5.0 using 3.31's and manuals using 3.90's with 7800redline.

About what I'd expect, going off how they are stock to stock. Crazy they need 140-160whp more to run with a Z06

I ran that same Z06 and he beat me by a car. He's a really good shifter I will say that. The Z06 in that video is the Same Z06 in this one:
