Back in an F-Body!
I finally got another F-Body... I had a 2001 s10 and traded even for a 93 z28 M6. I had a 94 before this one so if anyone has any info on the 93's let me know! It has 3.23's glove box code is a gu5.. Has an SS spoiler, a flowmaster, Moroso Cold air intake and a hurst. Looking for some 10 spoke SS wheels now!

Just my opinion but do 3.73s with your car. You have the M29 T-56 with the different gear ratios than the '94+ T-56. That's what I had in mine when I had the original trans. 3.73s in an M29 are similar to 4.10s in an MN6 (94+). 1st gear would be almost worthless with 4.10s.
Btw have fun with the '93. They really are a different animal

They aren't necessarily bad cars at all, it's just that being a first year car, it has a few oddities that are specific only to 1993. Here's a small list of what a '93 is about.
-It is speed density and doesn't use a MAF sensor.
-Spline Drive non-vented Opti used from '92 to early '94.
-'93 only intake manifold that doesn't have a notch for a crossover tube on the fuel rail. Fuel rail is different also and the location where the fuel lines connect is in the middle of the rail unlike the rear on a '94+ fuel rail.
-Slightly larger cam (And I do mean slightly) The cars are supposedly faster...
-Oil pressure sensor located on the side of the motor by the oil filter as opposed to behind the intake on a '94+.
-AIR pump is frame mounted while the '94+ cars have it mounted to the front of the motor.
-'93s only have an oil fill cap on the valve cover while '94+ cars have a 3" or so extention piece that screw into the valve cover and have a cap on top.
'93s use an ECM with a removable chip that has to be burned for tuning. Can be a pain sometimes to tune but it's not all bad. '94+ cars use a PCM with a non removable chip.
-You cannot correct the speedometer after a gear change using a handheld tuner i.e. Hypertech, You have to install a speed calibration box (Dakota Digital SGI-5) and calibrate it manually.
-'93s are Multiport Fuel Injection while '94+ cars are Sequential Port.
-'93 V8 cars had 2 options for a manual. The M28 T-56 that came standard with 2.73s or a M29 (more common) with 3.23s. The M29 has great gearing for racing but were slightly weaker than '94+ T-56s. For a automatic, you have a one year only 4L60 (basically a standard 700R4) that still uses a TV attached to the TB.
-'93 camaros had all yellow lettering in the interior, i.e. gauge cluster, window switches etc. etc. The only yellow lettering in a '93 firebird is the hood pop handle.
The removable panel for the spare tire doesn't have Lock/Unlock embossed in the plastic like '94+ cars.
I'm sure i'm forgetting a few things yet these are basic differences and like I said, it's not that they are bad, it's just that they are different and sometimes finding '93 specific items can be a pain. Good luck!
One of these days i'm gonna create a whole archive with info and post it.

Thanks for all the info! Mine actually has a 3" extension for the oil cap. I hate the yellow lights :/ I miss my 94... Mine does have the M29 with 3.23's but I'm wanting to put 4.10's in it soon.

No prob. Like I said, i'd run 3.73s with that trans. My car ran about 1900 RPM at 65 with them. You will be at around 2200-2300 RPM with 4.10s unless you don't mind. I'm at 1650 RPM with 4.10s and a '96 T-56 now.

Is there something in the Manual's I don't know about??? My A4 can change the rear gear and correct for in the speedometer drive gear in the back of the trans. But my 4L60 is basically a re-named 700R4. Do the M6's have tone rings on the output shaft? More out of curiosity than anything.

And yes on the 4l60, you can change out the gears but I don't know that they make one for certain ratios i.e. 3.90s, 4.10s, 4.56, etc and they wouldn't be that accurate with different tire sizes. So that box would have to be used on the auto also. I think it's great since you can literally adjust for whatever combo you have on the fly.
