Bad altenator??

Bad altenator?? I went to drive last night fired up the car and the headlights didn't come on.I went and checked them the right light was out and the left side flickered for a bit then shutdown.I tried everything I could looking at all the fuses and wires and everything is in tact.The only thing I can figure is the alternator is on it's way out?All the other lights are fine parking lamps tail lights interior etc.It fires fine and the voltage amps look ok to me it's my dd and could use some help,thanks.Btw I have hid headlights and heard they were rough on the alternator.

If the engine runs fine and everything else is ok.....probably not the alt.
Maybe the transformers for the HIDs are acting up.
If the alt was bad it would affect everything....and the battery wouldn't get charged properly. Easy way to see if the alt is working....start it up, then disconnect the battery. If it keeps running the alt is fine. Or go have it tested.
