Default whats going out on my tranny?

normal driving:
1-2 is a bit late and when it shifts, it does so with almost a slingshot effect

2-3 the rpms rise between gears...so it starts to shift, rpms rise before it gets to the next gear. like it slips before it goes into 3rd

3-4 is normal

during WOT shifts are crisp and on time at all changes.

the car is bone stock, the tranny is a fairly fresh stock rebuild

Sounds similar to mine. I had mine replaced under GM warrenty. Within 3 months it was acting funny again. 1-2 shift would lag...and then almost "clunk" into gear...you could feel it trying to shift and slipping before it would actually shift. Eventually you could feel the other gears starting to go to. The tranny is coming out within the next month or so. I have a built one that's going to go in. I'm eventually going to get the one that's in the car now rebuilt to have as a backup...until then I won't know what actually failed though. But like you...the car is a 2002...not completely stock..but pretty close...lid and cutout are the only performance mods.

BTW...the first tranny had the same symptoms as this current one when the dealer replaced it. It was falling flat on it's face between shifts. The dealer said something about there being a flaw in the case design of the 01 and 02 4l60e's that didn't allow enough fluid pressure to build....of course if they replaced the tranny that should have been solved...don't know if that problem actually exists or if it was a load of bs from the dealer.

Good luck getting the problems resolved.
