lowering/appearance project
I finally did a project I’ve been planning for quite some time. Since I don’t do much off-roading in my car, I decided to lower it. The wings west front piece has kept me from doing this in the past. So, I installed a McNord front clip. I really like how the McNord piece looks. It took A LOT of fiberglass work to get it even close to right, however. Particularly the mounting locations for the turn signals – I had to make brackets to mount the turn signals custom. I’m pretty happy with the way it turned out, though. The rest of the car is not completely clean, I wiped things down as best I could until I wash the car in a few weeks. I installed Strano springs, SLP Bilstein shocks. Huge ride and handling improvement as you can expect.

looks good~ how much work did it take to get all lined up and installed? I know you paid a pretty penny for the bumper I cant imagine it was half assed. also it looks like the front nose is raised up, may just be the angle, do you have a measurement from the ground to the bottom of the nose?

It is designed to angle up a bit in front to prevent scraping. I haven't measured yet, but I think it is about stock hight in the front, say an inch lower because the the thickness of the lip. It is lower on the sides, almost as low as my factory bumper was with the wings west front ground effects piece on. I can measure sometime when I get the time.

It took about 10 - 11 hrs to replace all the springs and make adjustments. I probably spent a week getting that thing lined up, kept adding fiberglass, sanding, etc. I knew going into this that alot of work was going to be involved. Noone else sells anything like this, though. I did not want to go back to stock appearance. That's just me.

The wheels are like a style of intro custom wheels I liked, but another brand I can't remember the name of now. The car was pretty high. I've seen other Z28's that sit just as high. You will all probably say it's my imagination, but for years I've looked at Z28s and SS cars and I swear the Z28's sit higher than the SS's. I think my car sits about where I am used to seeing other cars with strano springs that I've come across on this site.
