Default How fast of a 1/4 could I do?

I went to the track for my first run ever and had the worst 60 ft of 2.2.
I ran the 1/4 in 13.5 at 103.

Realistically, if I get a good 60 ft how fast can I do the 1/4???

Well, if you go from a 2.2 to a 1.9, there's 0.3 you've knocked off your quarter mile right there. On top of that you're probably only going to gain another tenth or two most unless you're having traction problems further down the track as well.

I've heard that every .1 of a sixty you drop that's .15 at the 1/4.
so if you had a 2.2 sixty and ran a 13.5, then ran a 1.9 sixty the 1/4 would be 13.05 I think. hopefully someone will chime in with some more help

I believe the thumb rule is 0.2sec in a quarter for every 0.1 in 60'. Worked for me.

There is no rule of thumb, YMMV!

With good tires and practice you might touch high 12's.

You should be able to beat a 2.2 with an auto.

How are you launching?

this it the correct calculation for cars until you get into the 11's then it goes down a lil. so if you go from a 2.2 to a 1.9 you should loose a good half second. however you are in a auto so you should be doing better than 1.9s on drag radials. i think 12's are possible

The problems I had.
1st I went through the water on street tires.
2nd I did not spin my tire enough.
3rd I have to get new tires they are at the bands in the tread to replace
4th I SPUN
5th there was a head wind and it was a bit cold (50 degrees).

If I can think of more reasons for my my crappy performance I will defiantely use them. I am sure the next time I go I will not be as nervous and will not make such stupid mistakes. I also need to practice launches at a rev.

Thanks for all the info so far.

having it a bit cold wouldn't hurt you, it would help. the air is more dense when it is cold out, thus oxygen is more abundent .

How about the tires not getting warm from the cold?

nope, they are street tires, if you get them hot they get greasy. all you want to do is spin them over enough to get the water out of the treads.
the water in the treads would definalty hurt you though

Well you have similar times to me when I was stock cutting 2.0 so for me it took a little better '60 and a lid and exahust and a good track prep (thanks Stanton!!!) to see 12's, I think you can get there with a little practice and some decent tires. FYI I never go through the water, just a quick lil burnout (on F1's) stage and pre-load the drivetrain just a little and let the lights drop!!!!

look like you could go faster than 12.5 if you learn how to launch. and get some 1.8's

If you're on treaded street tires stay out of the water!

I cut a 1.9 w/my stock 1998 a/4 TransAm on 245/50/16 Yokohama Avid all season tires.NO WATER, 6-7 second burnout, No dry hops.
