Default New 02 Z28 M6

So I just bought a new to me 2002 Z-28 M6 with 95k miles. I love this car and it is my first ls car, but I do have some concerns. Back in highschool I used to have an 03 eclipse that was black, and the clear coat began to come off after about a month. Well with my camaro being black I wanted to know if there was any way I could prevent this or if it was just the eclipse having a crappy paint job from the factory?

My daily driver 1994 Firebird has the clearcoat on the roof and front bumper peeling off, but's it's 18 years old. My show cars are fine. I would suggest keeping the car waxed and park it in a garage if possible. The sun will eventually hurt your paint.

Ok, I have been stressing a little over this. The car wont be parked in a garage but it will be under a car port so that should definately help. Thankd for yhe reply

Keep the car waxed!

Wax is an excellent way to stop some of the harmful rays from the sun that cause faded/peeling clearcoat. The carport will definitely help too. Biggest thing is to park in the shade when at all possible, but don't lose sleep over it. Your eclipse just had a shitty paintjob to begin with.

Enjoy your new camaro!

Either put wax or sealer on the car to protect the paint, the number 1 killer for paint is UV rays. I like to put down a couple coats of sealer after I clay and buff the car, then I put down a layer of carnauba wax. Some say not to do this, I have never had a problem doing this on any vehicle I own. The sealer protects the paint and the wax makes it shine. If you’re willing to clay and buff etc it is very worth the effort in the long run. Your paint will stay great for a long time.
