Default 4.8 turbo

So I built a turbo motor for my truck and now I have 2 spare 4.8's one with ported 706 heads and a 235-249 duration .573-.558 lift 109lsa cam and I have a spare On3 76mm so I thought I would toss it in another project. Im thinking a cam change is in order but wondering if the current one would stand a chance at working.

It didnt start to make power till 4800+. I ran an even bigger cam before this one but it had less duration. Took it to 8200 on stock rod bolts for a split second then set the limiter to 7400 to keep it alive and bounced off it every time it was out. lol

damn!! I guess the shorter stroke is better for the rod bolts. I would go smaller for sure

**** Denmah, you know all about that right bro?! LOL That's what I plan to do to my 4.8 too! F it right? Don't call them junkyard motors for nothing! I tossed some rod bolts in mine just for kicks, gonna see how far/hard I can push that bastard before it fireballs.

Yeah I got two very low mileage 4.8's for less than I payed for my valve springs and lifters in my solid roller methonal powered sbc. So I figured lets see what these ls motors will do. I spent over $6000 to keep the sbc alive at that rpm.

LS motors are so amazing, blast apart with impact, blast together with impact, hammer out 700whp on broken cyls, drive around town, no problem.

re use all the gaskets, incredible

The motor was in my air bagged 68 c10 backed by a muncie 4 speed and 4:30 gears. You could start from dead stop in 3rd gear dump the clutch at 6000 and 2 seconds later you were into the limiter and the tires were frying until you let off. I wish I would have took some videos. Ill just say their was lots of tire smoke around town.. Should be better with the new motor and turbo setup.
