Default Trunk won't unlatch when released

I searched the stickies and even did a search but came up with nothing. My trunk doesn't come all the way up when I hit the trunk release button under the dash or on the key fob. I remember reading a "spring fix" years back for this problem but I've never had it. Can someone point me in the right direction?

I had this issue, you have to piggy back a smaller spring onto the release spring. Pretty sure I just picked one up from Lowes

I had never heard of this, but am interested to try it. I was going to say that if it didn't work after this, then it may be the hydraulic struts going out.

I got the new spring to piggy back off the old one and it still doesn't work. I noticed that the latch is not cycling when I press the button inside the car or on the fob. At least now I know that the spring was never my problem.
