Default Mail Order Tunes...All created Equal?

Guys,

Are they all the same? Or do some do a better job than others?

They are all differant, but you will hear both sides on everyones tune. I got mine done by Solomon at lt1pcmtuning.com and he did a great job and it was at a good price.

I need someone who is REALLY good!

My Engine is brand new, never been started....I have many internal and external mods.

I need it good enough I can break the engine in on the street.

if you have a brand new engine with alot of mods, why not a dyno tune?? just asking
but FROST is a good option for a mail order tune.

Before you dyno it you should make sure it runs and put miles on it. Along with find any problems or issues that may have been overlooked.

^^What he said...Check for leaks, cooling issues, basically any issues associated with the transplant.

The nearest Dyno close to me is 2 hrs away and not that good from what I hear. I need to go down south to LA for a good dyno tune (not the place to find issues)

The only reason i said it was a short cut is because there is a better option, like a dyno tune.. But like i said before, i dont think they are necessarily bad, but there is a better option than that out there aswell, thus i called it a short cut for that reason..

Ive gotten a mail order tune before from FROST when i had bolt ons a while back. thats why i recommended him to ya

It's not. Just the opposite.

Some people start it for the first time on the dyno I guess. I would personally want to Atleast have the coolant bled.

If that what your looking for then I would NOT recommend a mail order tune. You need to have someone there to data log it and check over everything to make sure the engine is running correctly. A mail order tune may get it to run and start but you still dont have any idea if its rich, lean, under/over timed etc... Anytime I startup a brand new setup I always data log it so I know if everything is working right.

Wouldn't an experienced tuner know what to set the values to? Not perfect, but satisfactory?

It depends on how radical your setup is and how good or experienced your tuner is. There is not a single tuner or shop out there who has 100% success on mai order tunes. Im sure there are a few who can nail most combo's 9 out 10 times. Without any way to data log you wont know either way. Just because it starts and idles doesnt mean its safe. On something with alot of mods I only recommend mail order tunes for checking leaks and loading it on a trailer.

Thats pretty common setup, you could probably get by on a mail order tune. I recommend you contacting Frost or Patrick G, either one should be able to get you fired up with that combo.
