trans woes...come inside
At 69,999 miles my 08 Impala SS has begun the rev and clunk. Doesn't do it every time but at least 30% percent of the time. Anyone venture to guess which particular part failure causes this. I also get the converter lock unlock when cruising. And when under low acceleration when it shift into forth it "flares" very lightly. Almost like a 500rpm rev. It's still under warranty. Any insight. I want an new or rebuilt trans, not just a band aid on this one that will prolong an injured trans, should I drive it til it explodes or take in now?

Take it in.
I was having similar problems from what it sounds like you're describing. I brought it in to the dealership I work at and got a rebuilt trans.
Although at first, they did try and just put a band-aid on it and managed to mess it up more. So I told them stop screwing around with it and replace it.
