Default What do I need to put 3700lbs in the 10.50's? 5.3 or 6.0

I've cut my teeth on my NA LQ9 in my Fox. Now I want to go back to boost.

Want to put a turbo LS in one of my Turbo Buick Regals. Would like this car to remain a driver. So the Plan is a 4L80e trans, keep the 8.5" 10 bolt and 3.42 gears. The car already has a front mount IC and Meth Injection kit.

I notice most of you guys are running 4.8's or 5.3's. Is this what I need or will a 6.0 work? I'm asking because I have an extra LQ4 at the shop.

I was hoping to use the LQ4 and just re ring and bearing it, open the top ring gap up and some good rod bolts. Head studs, LS9 gaskets and the stock 317 heads.

I don't mind buying a 5.3 if that would be best. Just wondering what's gonna get me my goal.

A friend actually has a fresh built LQ4 I can get for $1500, but it has a set of 243's on it, but that would get me my LS6 intake I'd need.

What say you? lol

Do the 6.0 and an S480. Easy 9's. Do the gasket, studs, and a cam. Forget the rest.

see, im wanting to take my trans am at full weight and run low 10s high 9s all days on 28 slicks

im wondering if the lq4 with gasket, studs, and a cam would be able to handle a f1 procharger.. or if the heads will need some better lifters, springs and push rods
