Major engine damage.
I have a 2005 a4 GTO. Driving home the other day I noticed my CEL going on when I hit the throttle on the freeway. When I got off it was shaking like mad and idling low. I had it towed to my house, where it sat. Pulled the code and it was misfire cylinder 2. Checked my plugs, coils, and wires, then it was beyond me so I took it to a mechanic. They ran a compression test, cylinder 2 was zero. They put in a spy cam and found a very nice hole in my piston. So I brought my car back home on a tow and put it in the garage. Anyways, pretty sure this engine can't be salvaged, so does anyone know of a decent vendor for a new or used LS2? Also I am considering spending a few extra thousand and finding an LS7, but I'd like to know if anyone has had experience with this conversion. Any advice would be great, thanks.
On a side note, I just put a full tank and was driving home from station when this happened. I tried siphoning the fuel from door and fuel neck and there's no luck. So if anyone has figured out how to siphon the tank please let me know.
Thanks.

Has the car been tuned if so I would talk to your tuner cuz holes in the piston isn't normal unless the tune is completely f****d. With the fuel pull the tank and drain it that way

Depending on what you want, you can either get it at a junk yard/eba for cheap cheap used engines.
You can try Thompson Motorsports for some refurbished basic built engines with new components, or you can go to any major vendor like say TSP for a brand new fully forged engine.
Just a matter how much you want to spend really.

You will see a lot of people are going stroker LS3. Why not? L92 heads and intakes are pretty cheap. A decent cam and tune will easily put you over 500. But it is not cheap. Parts alone for a whole new motor can easily run 5-6K depending what options you put into it.

Thanks for all the replies. A little bit more info would be that I have around a 5k budget if I want to do it now, 10k if I want to do it mid next year, I'd love to upgrade the engine but I'm not sure how well the ecu/tranny on an A4 takes the upgrades. Everything else on the car is fine, and I would really just like the car running because it is the first car that I purchased and I worked my *** off to get it. It carries sentimental value to me. As for it being tuned this things bone stock so I'm not sure what happened, mechanic thinks something fell in but I don't know how that would of happened. I've only brought it past 5k 3 times, and the engine failure happened doing 70 on the highway, so I'm not sure why. Guessing high mileage. At the amount the mechanics want to rebuild this engine I might as well buy a whole new goat, but like I said my car has sentimental value.
