Realistic cost on l92 swap into 99 SS labor is free
What going to be a realistic ..
Cost to perform a l92 swap into my 99 m6 SS ....
Or am I better off putting the cash into my ls1
My guesstimate is $4k
Car is completely stock now.....
The more used parts I can find the better
I will have $1200 into purchasing the l92 long block...
I don't want to get to carried away.
Other than what's mandatory for the swap..
I would like to also install a cam and a set of long tubes with ory
While the crank is out to swap the ckp sensor wheel
I will rering and bearing
Things I'm pretty sure of
$1200 longblock
$750. Cam and springs
$650 ish long tubes and ory
I work at the gm dealer and get 10% over cost on any necessary gm parts needed..
And my labor is considered free
I have a hand full gaskets already
Intake gasket
Oil pan gasket
valve cover gaskets
Front and rear cover gaskets
Valley gasket
Valve seals
Thanks in advance

You seem to already have this planned out...Crunch the numbers and see if you have the budget.
The cost concern for me is the Engine itself. I would say, it would take some luck to find an LS3 for $1200. That is dirt cheap...You would be hard pressed to find a 12 yr old LS1 for that. Don't forget the intake or the adapter harness pieces.

Finding The engine it's self for $1200 is the only thing I'm 100% on ....
That's what started all this madness .
I was planning on a h/c/I long tube upgrade this winter on my ls1....
And that was a fairly easy decision and a straight forward weekend project..
Now I come across a $1200 l92
What to do

I saw your other post and this is a short block or long block?
A long block has cylinder heads on it.
$1200 for a long block seems to good IMHO. If know the history on it, your lucky find. If not, you might be taking on a surprise rebuild.

Don't forget the cam and knock sensor extensions that you'll need too. Make sure that the pins are not flipped when you get them. Somehow the wires are getting crossed from one end to the other. Do a search and you'll see, if you haven't found an intake you'll find a cheap one on camaro5.com you can also save Monty be sending your stock injectors for resizing, you'll just need the orings so they fit the Ls3 manifold. You'll also need a map sensor extension. I think you'll be right on budget, is selling your Ls1 as a long block in the budget already?
