mild cam thoughts...
I've been looking for a mild can which would work well with my setup. I have a 98 z28 with 6 speed with LT and a catted-y through a borla. I'll be putting on an ls6 intake and 243 heads with the cam. I want a mild can to keep it dd friendly and mileage respectable. The two I have been looking at is
LPE GT1 218/229 .561/.561 113cl
Tsp 224r .581/.581 112lsa
Which of these cams will make more power under the curve? How much of a difference in power between the two? Will I need new injectors with either of these cams? I also want a cam that is fairly easy on the valve train so I'm not replacing springs every couple of years. I believe the lpe cam can use ls9 springs. Any input is appreciated. Thanks in advance.

I would go with the 224r. It's a proven shelf cam that makes a descent torque curve across the board. Should be mileage friendly and easy on the valve train. I wouldn't think you would even need dual springs for this cam. Maybe look into lunati beehives there reasonably cheap and will hold up fine under a smaller cam like this. No you won't need new injectors.

Do the 228r since you are considering the 224r. It will make more power and is very dd friendly. Installed mine last summer and I have 243's and LS6 intake, plus full exhaust. Making 390 through an auto with 3600 stall.

The 224R has always had an extremely broad power band. If you are looking for a mild cam with a broad power band that is definitely the way to go. The 228 also is a good choice because it has almost the same broad power band as the 224R and will make a little but more top end power.
