Default How can I make it faster??

I have a 2004 corvette coupe automatic completely stock. I ran a 13.3 the other day. What can I do to bring it down to a 12.5?

Long tube headers, catback, cold air and a TQ converter with a tune should get you there.

It was enough to get my heavy TA there.

A good converter would get you there with traction.

ptc 4000 and a set of mts.

Drive mod has nothing to do with a stock auto.

First mod on an auto should be a stall and no more than it costs I'd do a transgo hd2 shift kit while you're in there if you have the skills.

A frost tune won't hurt either.

I would say to change the converter. Put a set of long tubes and a set of drag radials would probly do it.

A yank ss3600 converter and a tune with a set of drag radials, you are there.

.8 with a Yank 3600 is pushing it.

Why stop at 12.5? I'm sure you've heard by now it's addictive. Just go ahead and do heads and cam while you're hitting it with a stall, long tubes, Mickey Thompson Drag Radials and a tune. Even then, you'll be wanting more before the melted rubber cools in your rear wheel wells!
If you don't want to open up the engine, a 3,200 stall, long tubes, Good drag radials and the right tune should put you in the low 12's with the right tuner.

A 3200 converter with exhaust and tune would.have to see some pretty awesome da to hit low 12s.

Vette is lighter than F-Body. Remember, stock C5 Z06s can run 11s with drag radials. A 3600, longtubes, and a tune would easily run low 12s.

A C5Z is ~200lbs or more lighter than a base model. A base model Vette is not all that much lighter than an f-body.

I agree with the general consensus of this thread though. Stall, exhaust, tune, DRs and your car will feel like a completely different animal.

Stall, I would not go any smaller than a 3600, if my car was auto I would have a 4000 for sure. Headers, really any will do, I would try and get 1 7/8" primaries personally, but I am biased. Plus IDK how installs on Vette's really are. Tune, try and find someone local who is a good tuner, mail order tunes are really just a shot in the dark.

My old 2001 c5 ls1 had kooks long tubes/x pipe/z06 cat back/ebay cold air and it went 12.7@115.8 on bald *** street tires. I'd say just do full exhaust and then take it back to the track!!

FWIW my c5 tipped in at 3150 on the scale without driver.. A ton lighter than any F-body I've ever owned..

That's what I'm talking about. Now take 7 or 8 tenths off for stall and traction and it's low 12's or maybe even 11's with good tune and air.

You had an FRC then. Facts don't lie. The base model C5 is 3300+. The C5Z is right around 3100, with the FRC weighing in a bit heavier right around 3150 like you mentioned.

Since he has an 01, he doesn't have a FRC. That fact doesn't lie either.

The lightest stock F-body I've ever seen or heard about being a stripper Z28 with an auto would weigh nearly 3450 pounds with a 200 pound driver if not 3500.

That is a good 250 pounds heavier than any corvette made after 1997.

I may be off 25-50 pounds in my statement, but the fact is a vette weighs considerably(meaning 200lbs. + lighter) less than an automatic f-body.
