Can't you buy a whole Z28 for 5 grand these days? As for what it takes, there should be about 8 million threads from people who have already done it, I'd start by reading those.

YUP, I said it took 5Gs to do my Vette. It would be a hell of a lot cheaper to do the Camaro. Especialy if its just a straight swap. As stated he needs to do his homework. If he bought a totaled camaro for lets say 2K thats all he would need and could sell off some parts.

Honestly I would buy a v8 fbody n sell urs. I've seen 99 camaro v8 cars for $3500 here in tx or less but these are autos n have about 120k. I've even seen a ws6 with a new ls1 engine go for 5k with a 6spd. I should've bought that one.

I got it in a trade and have nothing invested, I don't want a ton of people picking it clean by parting it out, the body is straight with perfect interior. The 3.8 spun a rod bearing after I fixed a leaking intake manifold. I've found a bunch of 6.0 on eBay for around 1200 and I can get a t56 rebuilt with no core for 1300, or should I just a v6 back in it and sell it. They are only work about 1800 here in CA

I bought a running 1998 V6 Car and after selling Engine/Trans and other un-needed stuff I made all my money back. I stuffed my 408/T56 in it from my 1995 Z28. Then it wrecked and I built my 84 MCSS.

I can see comfortable $5k, no where near 8k.
