So long story short I gotta 2000 ss camaro automatic car and last week I noticed 2nd gear slipping a little on WOT so I did a filter and fluid change before my trip I'm currently on now and all of the sudden 2nd gear is slipping horribly bad with any more throttle than I'd say 10%.. All other gears are fine and shift good no slip at all, shifts from 2nd to 3rd normal too just gotta be driving like a grandma, cruises freeway speeds just fine, question is I'm 8hrs from home :/ think ill be ok and just 2nd gear is hurt? Or will all the gears start to slip? All but 2nd gear is completely normal and seem to shift just fine any help would be appriciated fellas an 8hr tow isn't cheap need to get home please help!

And yes fluid is full

A 2nd gear slip can only be caused by the "band" slipping. The band is activated by the Servo and is used for both 2nd and 4th gears. Therefore, if both 2nd and 4th slip, then your band is shot. However, if you are certain that only 2nd gear is slipping, then it is likely a problem with the 2nd gear piston in the servo; either it is cracked or the seals around it are leaking badly.
In short, if only 2nd gear is slipping, you should be fine to get home and it is not likely that the other gears will fail too. If you find that 4th is slipping too, then put the shifter into [D3] to keep the trans in 3rd gear.

(All this assumes you have enough fluid, the filter is not clogged and the pump is working fine.)

What he said. Followed by "and then you rebuild it".

A rebuilt servo might be all it needs and this does not require removing the trans. You might start with some estimates from trans shops to rebuild the servo and check your line pressure. It takes some work to make enough clearance to get the servo out and this is best done on a hoist.
Of course without a full rebuild it is hard to predict how long the trans will last.

Same thing from my regular vendor at half the price:
http://www.transmissionpartsusa.com/...-000035952.htm

Here is a thread where I show the servo removal procedure:
https://ls1tech.com/forums/automatic...ry-smooth.html

Here is another thread on the subject:
https://ls1tech.com/forums/automatic...o-removal.html

The trick is to get the engine/trans titled down enough to get the servo out. Others might have advice on how to do with with your F-body.
