Default White smoke blowing out of oil cap. Compression test looks good.. Help

Driving home a couple weeks ago, I came to a stop light, and the car died. I tried to start it and it didn't want to start. Finally got it started but had to keep my foot on the pedal to keep it from stalling. Drove home (about a mile) put it in the garage, there was smoke pouring out from under the hood (from the PCV System and when I pulled the oil cap off some coming out of there)

Well today I finally got around to looking at it. I did a compression test and they all turned out good, 190ish on all cylinders.

No weird noises.
Oil looked fine,
Coolant looked fine.

The car doesn't like to run, I have to keep my foot on the pedal to keep it running.

So what should I check next?

Gas smell in the oil? Have you checked all the spark plugs and wires? Coolant system staying pressurized?

ive seen a few cars pop ring lands and still show good compression, they also ran fine too.. might as well pull the heads and check.

my vote is a popped ringland...EXACT same thing happened to me
and come to show number 7 took a ****! i got lucky and had no cylinder
head damage, nor cylinder wall damage...popped a new slug and rings in
and cars been running strong since.

id take a look at particulary cyl 7 and 8 since theyre most prone to getting the
hottest and popping lands.

I have too.

To the OP, with white smoke blowing out the oil cap, I would not drive the car until the heads are pulled. Bob

I agree, and you did get lucky! I've seen cylinder blocks crack in the cylinder wall when the engine is run too long with a cracked ring land. Bob

Haven't driven it since I parked it. haven't even started it...
