Default 2012 5.0 vs 2011 GT500 w/ 13 blower(video added)

Ran a 2011 GT500 tonight. He has full exhaust 13 blower running 16-18lbs boost. Claimed around 700whp. Me at 680 with the 20's.

1st run from a 60 roll me in 2nd with passenger him by self. I get a slight jump he pulls back Even around 80 shut down around around 130 with him about half car lead.

Next run I decided leave in drive see how does. Not good he is gone. Takes to long to down ****. (Get that fixed in tune)

3rd run he starts honking at 45. I'm in 3rd gear (bad gear from that low) I drop down on 2nk honk still to high gear. I should been in first. But he walks out. He was in 2nd gear.

Get back then he says he was 640shp bbut tonight most likely around 670-680whp.

Got video but its taking forever to load.

Sounds like a close race when you both left from a good spot.

In for vids!

You are still struggling transmission tune problems? It seems like everybody struggles to get them 'just right'.

tuning in 6 spd autos arent as easy as people think. You have 2 extra shift points to dial in and 2 extra gears to choose from in a race.

As nice as they are for streetability... its tough to beat a strong running 4spd/3 spd auto with a big converter

Ohh I know they aren't. Seems like most people with 6l80e's have to street tune them to get it just right. I remember battling shift point/downshift issues in my old 4l60e

Agreed. Most of the swaps my friends did right away was dumped the 4l60e in their Fbodies for 4l80e's from trucks and with just a shift kit, tranny cooler, and stall, they are faring well to higher power levels

From a dig at the track my tranny tune is perfect. But it needs some time on the street to down shift a faster.

Was great run when both left from good spot. He was happy finally found some one give him a run. His buddy has a 2012 5.0 with a KB on it and he murders him. There was a stock boss out which Guy also owns a GT500 set up like one I raced he had both out. There was a 08 GT500 that was modded tried be chase car but it didn't work for him.

He just said TVs swap and some exhaust running around 18lbs boost, 3.73 gears, he said it made around 700whp when every one first met up. Then after runs he said it made 640 but tonight was most likely around 670-680whp. He said it makes 662wtq. Upgraded heat exchanger etc.

I did on first run and it was basically even. But it gave me a chance to do some testing so I used it against the same car.

I think me dropping the passenger and I took out my floor Jack that was in the trunk it will be a very good race. Going to do day runs after the Ohio state vs Michigan game and he gets done with gym.

I bet if you found someone who actually knows what they're doing (i.e. a Professional tuner) it would get done right. Plenty of properly tuned A6 5.0s out there.
