I have after market stereo setup, Amp and subwoofer in cargo hole, the thing thumps! However, at times the music stops for a second, then starts back like it never missed a beat. I checked all stereo and speaker wires, even resoldered connects, even took doors apart, added a capacitor, installed a new Optima yellow top. Still does it sometimes, doesn't matter if I'm driving or not, if car is running or not, if subwoofer is on or not. Now sometimes front speakers stop working, then start up. I can reboot and they work, they may cut out or they start back, sometimes just crank up volume loud and they will start. I'm thinking amp is going out, I have no problem just replacing but didn't want to throw money away on new amp if not necessary.

I rarely drive car these days except weekends. I believe I have orig alternator, I'm installing powerbastards high output unit next few days to keep battery charged, and for future electric water pump mod.

Has anyone seen this sound symptom and any idea something I may need to check before spending money on new amp.
