Arrow difference in LS1 vette and F-body

I apologize if this has already been posted on before, but I'm just too lazy to do a search and then read through all the threads. But my question is, what makes the LS1 in a 'vette 350 HP, and the SS is 325 HP? Is it just a different cam, intake, etc.? What's the easiest way to make a stock SS crank out the 350 ponies?

It's just GM trying to protect the Vette, a Z28 rated 45hp below the vette will dyno just about the same. Sometimes vettes will even dyno lower than the fbody due to the different rearend (I believe, someone correct me if wrong).

I know, I know - I'm a lazy bitch. I do use the search quite a bit, but I also like to post to get new responses. Thanks for your answers though.

JRP is the one to talk when it comes to the SEARCH button

but yes due to all the power loss through the IRS on the vette, it will make around the same numbers as an F-body.

i thought that the 350 hp for the vette was flywheel power and the numbers for the SS and Z28 is rear wheel numbers....

i saw a stock vette lay down 285-290....same as an f-body!
the guys was kind of let down..?

C5s will generally dyno less due to a bit more drivetrain loss. Remember our trans are in the back.

Nope, they are both rated at the flywheel. Again, GM didn't want most people to know that the low $20K f-body had the same power as the Vette that was twice as expensive.

Default Da Same

IRS= independent rear suspension or internal revenue service..you make the call.. That 350 hp label is to make vette owners feel good..they are pretty much the same.

Does the Vette's true dual exhaust setup vs. the F-Body's Y-Pipe contribute to the higher power (Then the IRS negates it)?
