Default GU2 and GU5 RPO codes and (rearend ratio)

So my buddy just informed me that there are essentially 1 of 2 RPO codes on a 98 T/A... GU2 and GU5. I have GU2 which is the crappier of the ratios (2.72 i think) Now he is convinced that his LT1 Camaro can beat me in a race...

My question is did i get screwed or does gear ratio really not matter all that much? Throw some numbers at me please, like how much horsepower and torque i would be missing if i had the GU5 option instead. (better gears,forget the number)

Thanks.

GU2=2.73 GU5=3.23
you didn't get screwed,those came standard,GU5 was an option as 'performance rear axle',standard on WS6(I think). GU5s' are typically .1-.2 faster in the 1/4 than GU2s'.
