Default Are there heads that can gain me 50hp?

I'm wondering if there are any heads out there that will gain 50hp or so? My combination now is full bolt-on ls1 with a 224r cam. If I get heads I wanna go max effort and get huge gains with them. I want to gain 50hp and 5mph if possible?

If you currently have completely stock heads at stock compression, I would say YES, 50 fwhp is possible.
I would go with a full cnc heads that are milled to get the compression > 11.0:1 . I'd look at AFR 210's with a 62-58cc chambers.

With that small cam, you might be hard pressed to find cylinder heads that will gain you that much.

Sure you can get some sick flowing heads, but if the cam does not allow all that potential to be filled then it won't work. And since your cam has lift in the high .500s, then you're going to be limited in the airflow of the head.

Not saying that it can't be done, but you will need a very specific pair of heads that flow very very well at under .600 lift.

Something like a slightly ported and milled AFR 205 will be your best bet.

Yep. AFR 210's, CLEAN AFR 205's, or some used ETP 215's.

AI CNC'd 243s will get you there. Two in this thread that gained 50rwhp. And one of them was from stock 243s to the ported 243s...

AFR and Trick Flow are both very close in cost and power. They run about $2200-2500

Although I havent heard anyone suggest this yet but,

Trick Flow as-cast 220cc heads. They are $1650 and only down about 10hp from the fully cnc 215s for $700 less while still matching and bettering ported gm casting. Also, they leave room to grow in the future as they can be ported to the 225 235 or even 245 version.

Mast bought PI right, so Mast heads are PI offerings?

https://ls1tech.com/forums/dynamomet...-gm-5-3-a.html
That is just AIs 218cc port not their 226cc.

Most folks have a really hard time separating marketing from results.
Also consider that aftermarket heads need full roller rockers or PM guide conversion either of which is added expense on top of an expensive option..

I would recommend taking a look at our PRC 227 aftermarket casting cylinder heads. They should no doubt help you pick up the gains your looking for. Feel free to give me a call Ill be happy to answer any questions you have.

Guy is asking about heads gain alone and you didn't even list a vague cam size.

I wouldn't say the PRC heads are REALLY holding you back, but an aftermarket casting will no doubt be an upgrade. I would recommend you take a look at our aftermarket casting PRCs. Give me a call with any questions Id be happy to help you out or answer any questions you have.

Btw my heads are stock untouched 853's... I am trying to decide if I should do the turbo build or do a good set of heads with higher compression, bigger cam, and a restall to 4k?

Quick Reply: Are there heads that can gain me 50hp?
