Question Buying used auto trannys that have been sitting for a while, Got questions

Here's a few questions but ill give a little insight on what I am talking about. I buy a complete Ls drivetrain out of a truck, 5.3/4l65e with 60k miles. It ran before it wrecked. The guy pulls it out of the truck and it site for maybe 6 months and now it sat maybe a year with me. Now there's no trannys fluid in the pan as it all came out when it was pulled. So here's the questions......

Is there a safe amount of time an auto tranny can sit and still be good to use?
What should you do if your going to store an auto tranny for quite some time before it gets swapped into another vehicle?
What do I need to do before swapping it into my car?
What if I find or buy another pull out that has been sitting but is good?
What to do so I don't have to rebuild it/them?
Or am I just plain ol Fvcked?

I picked up a used 4L60E that was out of vehicle for a few months, then it sat(drained) in my garage for a couple years, installed it a year and a half ago, still running fine.

Think bout it. There's still stock th350/400's that people buy and use and are stock and old as dirt. I wouldn't hesitate

Yeah maybe ur right. Im just being paranoid I guess as I thought I read somewhere that the clutches dry up or the tranny oil drains away. Maybe ill fill it up n see what happens

Just put it on jack stands and let it run in gear at idle for a few minutes. That'll get the clutches wet again without hurting anything.
