Default Stock Temp Sensor Revisited...

Spent a good amount of time searching for a definite answer, but did not see one....so the question...

Can you use the 3 wire temperature sender from a 98 to run an aftermarket temp gauge, say a Speedhut gauge accurately, without any resistors etc?

I know you can relocate the sender to other spots, but trying to keep the engine bay clean as possible. Having issues with the sender in the rear of the passenger head. Seeing as much as 30 degrees difference in temp. Yes I have bled the system ad nauseum....there is no air to speak of. The engine is tilted at the rear slightly...

Is anyone running this with an aftermarket gauge, and what are your results?

All temp gauges do not run the same range. You'll have to check with the gauge manufacturer.
Readings I took from the 98 sender.
temp/resistance
192/215
181/272
157/428
135/675
105/1225

Read the previous posts. They are not the same.

He is talking about a 98 3 wire sensor mine is a two wire sensor out of a 2003 and like i stated the connector looks exactly the same... so i guess what i need is the factory GM temp/resistance reading for the two wire sensor.
