Default Converter fit issue - what is proper height for an LT1?

I am having trouble with an install on my 96 corvette. LT1/4l60e.uu

I only hve 1 inch, maybe 31/32" between bellhousing and converter tabs.

Converter measures 6 inches from hub to mounting lugs.

The old converter is 5 13/16" tall and I get close to 1 1/8" from bellhousing and gives me needed clearance to the flexplate.

With the new converter the mounting lugs deflect the flexplate and is too tight.

Is the new converter too tall?

Default

5.900 from the end of hub to the mounting pads is the correct overall height and can only be measured accurately with a height mic.
