Default rebuilding 1997 4l80 jakes level 2 kit, "better" overdrive??

so i ordered the level 2 rebuild kit from jakes performance and am getting ready to rebuild it. i believe it was mike i talked to said 93-97 had the better overdrive. anyways my trans is out of a 2wd 1997 surburban and am wondering if the larger overdrive is really needed or if its just one of those "this one is better but the other one never breaks.." things because although i trust him everything i read says the 91-96 has the better overdrive, even their website faq. so basically im just trying to get a couple different opinions.

i only ask because im planning on making 750-800 rwhp and obviously putting the 4l80e so it doesnt break so if i need to change some internals i will. thanks

GM didn't "upgrade" the OD unit until 2001, so your 97 model should have the good OD assy.
