Default To roll bar or not to roll bar?

The car is a dd for Dad that we built to race too. Now it's too fast to run without a roll bar. I don't know whether to slow the car down or put a roll bar in. I'm also unsure of how much weight it will add but it seems like it would be a hassle for my 62 yr old Dad to deal with regularly.
Ideas?

You could always do one with swingouts. Makes it easier to get in/out of.

I thought about that especially if the door bars are pinned and can be removed completely for street use. Just don't know.

If you got one with swing-outs it'd be like not having a cage and would really only be an inconvenience for him at the track. That sounds more fun than slowing slowing the car down.

6 or 8 point with swing outs! if you worried about weight you could always do a chromoly roll bar.

I decided against a roll bar because of safety concerns on the street. The car is a dd. thanks for all the input though.

To answer the question by the OP, the first option is not legal, 2nd could be if the bar falls between the shoulder and elbow of the driver, and the rocker bar is not needed on a unibody car with the oem floor pan that’s in-modified.

Well, I am a 63yo and have a Wolf 6 pt with swing out's in my car.
The side bars are easily removed by simply removing the hinge pin.
As far as safety goes for a street car, I have the bar heavily padded.
Now I know full well in the event of a serious crash, that padding will be of little help in protecting my head.
But it is something that I have accepted for the past 9 year's because I don't want to be limited when I go to the track to an 11.50 or slower time.
Call me stupid?
