Different wheel/tire sizes turns off the ASR/ABS
Hi all,
Had the car for about 3 weeks now. When I bought it the owner told me that because he had 245/40/17s on the front and 275/40/18s on the rears both from a Corvette on the car and once the car goes over 50mph (roughly) for a while it turns off the ASR and anti lock brakes because it can sense a difference between the front axle and rear axle.
Under about 50mph it does not turn them off so I believe it is true.
I will be picking up a set (x4) of 245/40/18s soon and I wondered if I fitted them so they were all the same would that stop the ASR and ABS from deactivating?
Thanks guys
Alex
Any thoughts guys? I am going to try out my plan tomorrow to see if that stops the lights coming on

OK fitted the 18s and it is true, different size wheels will set off the asr and abs so now that I have all the wheels the same the abs and asr stay on and the lights don't come on.
Thanks

Back when I had 245/40r18 front and 285/35r18 rear the ABS/TCS did not disable itself. HOWEVER, on hard braking from higher speeds (end of 1/4 mile especially) the ABS would activate when not necessary creating some very scary instances - the car would almost refuse to stop. You may have the same problem with the 275/40r18 in the rear.
