It is definitely a unique design compared to what is currently avaliable on the market. We worked with DKT Performance and designed this k-member to have all sorts of room for people who are building custom turbo kits or running the APS turbo kits. This k-member gives you far more room than any other k-member currently avaliable.

If anyone has any question you can give either us or DKT Performance a call and we will answer them for you.

I ordered a Bmr turbo k member about 2-3 months ago and this is what I pulled out of the box...minus the motor stands...I sent it back to get the turbo k member.

These K-members are going to be priced the same as our current turbo k-members so they will sell $609.95.

Must have been a mix up in our assembly department. We have been working on this for a few months now so one of the prototypes must have gotten mixed in with the inventory.

That's pretty badass but are those mounting points strong enough?

The mounting points are plenty strong enough to handle the abuse. We have used this same design on all our SBC/BBC k-members for the last 5-6 years and have never had an issues with them and we have quite a few SBC/BBC equipped cars that are really moving. If there was enough interest we could potentially do a Delrin upgrade for the motor mount stands which would add even more strength to it and solid mount everything.

Very similar mounting to how an engine dyno is...the motor will have the two side pedestal mounts (usually all-thread too)

You could use a solid mount for sure. IMHO the best way to do that would be to machine a delrin bushing that has the same dimensions as the poly-urethane we normally send with the k-member. If there is enough interest that is something we would be willing to look at and maybe offer.

Very nice! I only wish that these were already around when I first started my build. But it would be an awesome option to have just in case.

yeah...i'd love a k-member that works better, and for the longest time i was torn between the "BMR/APS" and ModularTurbo's. the reason i didn't go ModularTurbo is because their design doesn't look like it offers a lot of support for lateral motion. and now this "DKT/BMR" design looks like it has followed suit... i don't know about everyone else, but my car came with a steering wheel which is used quite often. none of that "i can only go fast in a straight line" for me lol the reason for avoiding "BMR/APS" is because i loathe hammer-tone black

do the supports HAVE to be SO vertical?

if i look at the pictures from this thread, it seems the answer is "no, the supports can indeed be diagonal or bowed to put your all's minds at ease"

Like Kyle said this is just the sbc/bbc k member with LS mounts. I think this is a bad *** design and probably a more down the road common k member.

I just thought of this. You said the up and down was not best for turns. F body is the only car with angled mounts.

Gto
Ctsv
C5
C6
^^^^^^ those all have up and down mounts.

cool
I understand your concerns with lateral movement but it will not be an issue. This same style k-member setup has been used for a long time on many BBC combinations which is much heavier then the LS motors without any issues. The motor mount stands don't have to be as vertical but the further your spread the stands out the less clearance you have and the more stress that is put on other areas of the k-member.

When you design and build a k-member it is pretty much impossible to make it work for everyone and to make everyone happy. This k-member was designed to give the most optimal clearance possible and it does that very well. I would have no issue taking corners with a setup like this and like I sadi in previous post if there was enough interest we could potentially do a delrin motor stand bushings which will solid mount the engine to the k-member.
