I helped my friend sell his prized classic car for & f body.
I put a bug in my friends head he needs to blow out his nice but not my style 65 impala ss bb 4spd vert original car. He didn't use it b/c his garage is in the back of the house and there is not enough room to swing that boat around to stuff it in his small one car garage. I told him to get another f body and drive it and have fun. I listed it on ebay 2x for him and two days later a local guy that goes to our local cruise nights knew the car and had to have it for 22k. He tried to buy it once before but the owner before my friend wanted too much money. My friend had a 95 camaro lt1 low milege where the t tops were never removed but he sold it before he met us. Both suck jmo lol. His target will be a t/a ls1 hard or t top by his own decision with roughly 70-very low hundred k. I told him the end of January will be a good time to get it. He also has a 78 malibu bb I drove was just ok to me & a few shitboxes he doesn't use, a 75 lincoln mark III coupe & a 80 something fleetwood. The mark is a nice color and in good shape but still a waste. I can't wait to get my hands on it which I was told no problem. Chances are the car he will buy is not local b/c they are scarce here (which is not a bad thing) so I told him he should have me offer someone here a fair amount to look at his future purchase before he flies to see it or receives it blind. I can't think of a better groupto help him make a good decision. I wanted to share the story. Sorry if it is a little winded. Brian.

Na, it just sat there and now he will have a car he can drive w/ a lot of money left over. I did the same thing with my 69 and I am much happier. The classics are awesome but your married to their never ending need of time & money.

Sure sounds like you are making a lot of decisions for your friend.
Had a friend that we both tried to do that to each other and we finally had to realize we had different styles and wanted different things.
Unfortunately your buddy is probably going to regret getting rid of the impala.

Man if that was a NICE, NO RUST 1965 Impala convertible, big block, 4 speed, numbers matching, that car is worth some $$$$$$$$. 1965 is one of my favorite years of the Impala, still has those three round tailights, but has that more modern, swoopy Bill Mitchell, "Coke Bottle" styling.
If this car was just a cruiser, man I'd take that Impala all day long. I love those old ragtops that were the size of an aircraft carrier. One of my dream cars is a 1968 Cadillac convertible.
If you were to drive it every day, well, a nice, modern LS1 fbody might be more ideal for your friend. Still you gotta love a well sorted classic, once you get the mechanicals sorted out, they are pretty darn reliable.

The Impala was a nice car but he was petrified to drive it. He only took it out a few times a year so it was basically a beautiful ash tray. It is a box body style not swoopy to me, I put a link in the first post. He does drive his 78 Malibu w/ a 454. He kept saying to me he missed his z28 so now he can get one he can one & have a bunch of money in the bank. Not so terrible for a guy on a fixed income delivering pizza three days a week. He is 70 thin and can get in and out of the f body better than I can. Different strokes. Lol.
