No, cant wait to get rid of myne. I have a 2800 stall with 2.73 rear gear and the best 60 ft is a 2.1. Fpr as drivabilty with a aftermatket cam its hurting gas mileage but its highway mileage is phenominal haha.

This just goes with your title..."suck ***" Everyone says track times hardly vary when doing a 2.73 to 3.73 swap. But it truly "feels" like you pick up a second. Daily driving is alot funner comparably from 2.73s to 3.73s and thats a fact.

With stock cam they did great with the converter (1.70 60'), with aftermarket cam, not so much, (2.4 60').

Here's the vid with the 2.4 60', run was a 12.5 @ 113

Buddies setup.. 98 FULL weight trans am.. stock lid 273s etc etc
228r tsp cam
ptc 4000 converter
pacesetter long tubes, 2.5" x, 1 chambers dumped

untuned in fl heat it ran 11.8@114mph
In tn untuned before the cam it ran 7.7@88 in tn

Gears matter very little in stalled autos vs manuals.. I suggest a stock 342 rear if you feel the need to switch.
The actual et/mph gain from the two is minimal at best.

You guys running street tires might as well not post up.

You aren't going to lose .7 in the 60' by changing to any cam either any gears, period.

I cut 1.9s in a stock 98 running 8.4s... Added an ms4 cam, full exhaust, 4400 converter.. Ran 7.5s cutting high 1.5 short times..
This was with 323s but the principal still applies to 273s.

That post about street tires wasn't towards you babbage, its the guys with converters/etc.. If you're spinning its not worth posting results.

I did the swap in my 71 skylark with a 455 big block. Went from 2.73 to 3.42. I got the same 60ft. and same et but 2 mph slower with the 3.42s. But like someone said before it feels faster.

There is an Austrian overhere with a tubocharged LSX Camaro topending on high speed runs with 2.75 in a Ford nine inch ( 240+ mph). Speed can be made with these gears if you have the HP.

Most guys on here are looking for quickness. Doing a certain distance in a certain amount of time as quickly as possible. We don't have the autobahn over here
