Hi everyone, new guy here. I have a 69 Chevelle that needs an LS1 swap. I found a good deal on an LS1/T56 but it is not in a car so I cant hear it run. I am willing to take some level of risk, but what are some things I can look for to make sure I dont end up with a POS?

thanks

It is a 2000 with 130k miles

The only advice I can give you on that is try to way the total value of your build. I bought a used short block ls1. I thought I was dead set on the ls1 build. Way the mileage on what you are considering and the risk. In hind sight... I am now purchasing a 6.0 short block for a little more cubes and starting from zero miles. In my opinion there is something to be said for doing things once and if it fails it will def be something that I overlooked instead of starting with something that already my have issues. That's just my opinion bc you are putting it in a classic instead of replacing a previous ls1 car.

have you priced how much you can get a built ls1? or even a new short block?

or are you planning to rebuild it yourself?

I would consider who is selling it and whether or not there is any type of guarantee that it will run right. What is the price?

I'd find one with less miles, unless you plan on doing a complete rebuild.
