Default Strut replacement

Hey guys, just wondering if any of you knew roughly how long it takes to replace the struts, front and rear on a GTO.

Couple of hours seems about right as long as you have all the proper tools.

I would plan a whole day at least. All Data says 6.2 hours to overhaul the front and 7.8 to overhaul the rear. That is replacing bushings and struts/springs.

Thank you. That's the answer I was looking to get. I have someone who has adjustable struts and springs that wants them installed along with the better bushings

Seriously depends on what bushings you are talking about. There are dozens on this car. If you are just talking about strut mounts, that won't add to your time.

You'll probably spend more time on the control arm bushings and swaybar bushings than everything else combined.

Let me just say that the rear lower control arm bushings are a major PAIN IN THE *** to get out. I spent a great deal of time on my back with the car and rear cradle on jackstands. Finally had to use a propane torch to get those bastards out.

I published about using a torch and homemade tool about 5 years ago. At the time the conventional wisdom was that you had to have a Pedders special tool to do it easily. After I figured out the first side (I did inner, outer and subframe at the same time) the second set came out in under an hour.

Yes - your guide was invaluable. But I still had trouble getting them out.
