Default Going for a new PB! What race gas?

Going to the track this weekend and going for a PB. I have the car running good on pump gas and was wondering if mixing some race gas in it would get me a tenth or two??

The car is a full weight 02 Z28, stock short block, PRC 2.5 5.3L heads I think the CR is around 11.8 or so, cam is 233/239 - 602/605 on 113. I am going to spray it with a 175 shot. The car has gone 1.36 60' 6.5 1/8 @ 103 on a 150 shot with pump gas. I want sub 6.5's!!

Will race gas get me a little more and what gas would you suggest??

Are you running a stand alone fuel cell? It's over kill but I would run c116.

No stand alone, just going to mix it. The nitrous is also a dry shot.

I would see if you can find some 110octane unleaded race gas and use that.

I asked a similar question of the nitrous guys on The Bullet. My understanding of Monte Smith's explanation was maybe, maybe not. The fuel burns a little slower and might change your a/f ratio as well. So, if your car is optimized for pump gas, better fuel may need more timing to get a complete burn. And you may have to tweak your a/f tune to get your optimum a/f ration back.

I came away with the main benefit being a wider tuning window with more margin for error, but not necessarily faster. And of course the general YMMV type stuff. Also, my C/R is only 10.9:1

Blindly mixing leaded race gas changes your stoich point and will more than likely lean out your a/f ratio. Also, not knowing the EXACT mixture makes it impossible to calculate the correct stoich point in order to compensate in the tune. I recommend shell urt 110. It's an unleaded race gas that doesn't change stoich point and they claim that it's just as good as any other 116 race fuel.

Did not add the race gas to keep my 3 year old tume in check and left the 150 shot in.

First pass
60' 1.42
1/8th 7.0 @ 81mph
= tranny hit the rev limiter on the 2-3 shift and did not shift to 3rd. I was not going to run it again but my tranny guy was there and he said make a motor pass and see how it did. We did and all was good. So we sprayed it again.

Second nitrous pass
60' 1.41
1/8th 6.52 @ 103mph

What's the car run on motor? Also why not just up the shot to 200 to go for sub 6.50?
