Default Wheel is hard to spin.i am stumped.

I got some race star rims and I put them on before I torque the rim it spins freely after I torque the rim it real hard to spin it. Front rims. Passenger wheel spins free the driver side wheel is real hard to spin. Could it be the wheel bearing? I don't think the caliper is sticking.

Does it grind at all when its torqued down?or is it just hard to spin?

its probably rubbing on the caliper....i thought you had to run spacers or have a certain offset to run racestar wheels on the front. Someone with racestars chime in!

No spacers needed with my car. Has new brakes on it so the calipers are all the way out. Could be a wheel bearing, any noise related to the hard to spin issue?

Got plenty of room between caliper and rim. It is just real hard to turn.I will take the caliper off tomorrow and see if it is still hard to turn.It is just weird how I can put the wheel on and spin it but when I put pressure on it with the lugnuts it tightens up.Could it be the caliper when I am putting pressure on the rotor against the caliper?Caliper not giving none. The brake pads I removed didn't look like they were wearing uneven or nothing.

could be the caliper slides sticking then.....if the wheel bearing were messed up it would be hard to spin all the time(lugs loose or tight). More then likely one or both of the caliper slides are frozen and when you tighten the lug nuts up it pushes the rotor into the brake pad causing it to be hard to turn. Take the caliper bolts out and make sure you can move the slides in and out easily.

caliper could be sticking and the rotor may be getting pressed against it. check the sliding pins on the caliper bracket. I have had seized pins before.

Edit: hahaha ^ just thought of the same thing.

Just curious how do you go about getting them out when they are rusted in?

What you just attempted. PB blaster, heat, screw drivers, plyers. More than likely though if they're that seized into the bracket the bracket will be to rusted to use unless you used one of those little sand paper things with flaps on it that go on a dremel to "hone" the hole out. You probably took the best path in just replacing it.

you don't...(seems to be pretty common issue with our calipers) same thing happened to me, I was like no ******* way. Used a hammer, mini sledge and still couldn't get it out, bench vise, vice grips, pb blaster lol it was fucked.

Glad you got it fixed.

This is a lesson I learned the same way years ago. You definately want to make sure you grease those slider pins each time you change pads.

I'd take that a little further, and say that you should grease the pins every couple of years, even if you don't need pads.
