Putting together a 5.3 to go in a fox body.

Where can I buy good forged pistons for a reasonable price?

Where can I get good rods, or are there stock rods I can use that are strong enough?

Motor will be completely fresh with ported 5.3 heads with bigger valves and be getting sprayed 200-250.

Well, there are many options as far as rods go. Just about any rod used in a 5.7 or 6.0 build up is going to work for you. You have options of 6.100" and 6.125" lengths. As far as pistons go, the only off the shelf options are Wiesco, everybody else you would need to custom order pistons. Now you might be able to bore over to a 5.7 and still hold some serious gas. Obviously you would have to have the block sonic checked to be sure, but your off the shelf options open greatly if you can get to a 5.7 bore.

Been reading up on boring it to a 5.7. Can it be done without sleeving?

Can be bored to a 5.7 without resleeveing. 5.7 is 3.898 stock bore but normally you can take them safely to a 3.90x

He's on it, but you do need to have the block sonic checked if you do decide to bore it to a 5.7. Most blocks can go that far no problem, but there are some that can't. Boring to a 5.7 means you are taking .120" out of each cylinder which is obviously a lot, but most of those blocks have a lot of extra material, you just need to ensure yours can go that far if you chose to look into it.

my iron 5.3 block was bored/honed to 3.905" at HKE for $300.

Not a bad price. For 300, the op could pick up a 6.0 block and do the same thing he plans to do with the 5.3
