Default Quaife QBE 69G Six speed sequential transmission for Comaro

Has anyone fitted one of these amazing manual transmissions to a Comaro?

N.B. Not to be confused with an auto that has manual sports mode.

The 69G is a full manual designed for road racing but no clutch is needed after the initial start.

In particular I am looking for a bell housing and adaptor plate to go between the Quaife and the LS engine

THANK YOU!

Still uses the clutch on the downshift.
As a daily driver that gear whine froom straight cut gears would get old fast.

Thank you for reply. I should have explained this is for a road race car

Here it is with existing dog H pattern gearbox

And to put that in perspective

Fairly serious race car

Not worried about whine. Just want sequential shift transmission and Camaro bell housing and adaptor will work.

You might want to look at Xtrac also. You might be able to find a used Hewland some what reasonable. Your next best and cheapest would be to faceplate a t-56.

Thanks for that I will try LG.

Car already has a very good PPG Tremec dog box but I want a sequential.

EMCO and Holinger too expensive. Quaife QBE69G is the option we are using.

I looked into this trans as well. You might want to try gearboxman.co.uk and see which bellhousing options they have available. There is another V8 series in Australia (not supercar) which uses LS engines. Not sure if they are running the 69G or Hollinger though.

Thanks for that. I will be trying the gearboxman too.

I think you mean the NZ V8 Supertourers. They use the 2013 COTF V8 Supercar chassis, LS7 and the QBE68G. I have thought about using their setup but they have the starter motor mounted backwards and I am unsure there will be space in the confines of my FD RX7 LS engined car.

I am trying to do a Comaro / VE Commodore /Pontiac G8 setup first and if that is too hard I might try the NZ setup with triple plate Tilton etc.

I do,like my single plate for fast starts. My car gets off the line really well with the single - faster than many big budget GTR and other AWD cars and a triple might hurt starts.

A backward starter certainly would not work in my chassis (probably about the same in your RX7). I might be mixing up my transmissions but doesn't the 68 have significantly lower torque handling ability (like half)?

If you are able to locate a 69G to LS belhousing I'd love to hear about it.

Sorry. That was a mistake. I have a QBE69G. Not a 68.

If I locate a bell housing or bellhousing and adaptor I will report it here.

That would be much appreciated, thanks.

Just curious, which clutch are you running now? I know you said it was a single disc, is it a standard stamped steel clutch cover?

No joy with LG Motorsports but they sent me a nice reply. Thank you.

The clutch is a full custom single plate by Autowerks Automotive.

They are on Facebook and the owner Sonny Duran is also on Facebook. He has the clutch behind an 1100RWHP LS3 Commodore Ute and heaps of other customer cars.

Works great.

Pretty pricey but the results are sure to put a smile on your face! What about the input shaft? Any mods needed?

It should hopefully work out half the price of a a Holinger Sequential and about a third the price of an EMCO Sequential

That's the plan anyhow. Only time will tell.

Looks like they offer a helical gear set also for the more street minded folk.

Anyone know the torque rating of the box?

Chris.

http://www.gearboxman.co.uk/ is thinking about making a bellhousing or an adaptor to suit the Comaro/Commodore/GTO bellhousing

If interested contact them at info@gearboxman.com ASAP as numbers will help them decide.

If they do not make one I will have one made and make them available Worldwide.

Stay tuned.
