Default stock truck cam?

Has anybody run a 4.8 or a 5.3 with a turbo using the stock truck cam? I know it wont make the power like an ls6/9 cam or an aftermarket cam but I would have to thnk it would still make good power.

Meh,stock cam leaves your setup lacking.I ran mine on my lq4 and I was out of steam by 5200rpm which dosent sound terrible necessarily, but boost builds and the car would pull real hard then run out of steam fast

Thats what I was thinking but I would have to think that you could still go pretty fast on the stock cam.

I ran a totally stock Lq4 and a s475 and it didnt seem to have any issues hitting 6000 rpms. Cant say it was making power up there, but she turned it.

What is keeping you from running a cam that's been specified for your combo?

Look for a used cam in the classifieds and then run some Brian Tooley dual valvesprings/keepers/lightweight retainers $200.

The stock cam is a dog. I would upgrade the timing chain as well at the same time. Don't forget to use a new oil pump 0-ring when you put it back together.
