Default what causes ls2 to spin rod bearing

Building a stroker from a 05 gto ls2 block with spun #6 rod bearing. Is there anything particular that needs to be done to make sure this doesnt happen again?
Thanks Randall

replace that #6 connecting rod and either turn & polish the crank or replace it. Also, check that #6 cylinder closely and replace the oil pump with a new one.

Thanks going with callies crank and rods. Just want to make sure there isnt a blockage in the oiling system causing so many ls2's spin #6.

I was unaware this was a common problem. If so, you might want to have a conversation with some of the reputable LS performance machine shops. They are usually on the front lines in these battles.

#6 is the first to die when you have a oil volume problem.

one of the big issues is getting the oil to the pump.

Car Shop Inc has a fix for these issues

Make sure you have the entire rotating assembly rebalanced. Lack of oil - as has been said, too little or too much clearance and balance problems.

my 05 GTO spun rod bearing #6 over the summer with only 12,000 miles.
No indication of any issues, just boom....when I go about my rebuild what can I do to prevent any future oil issues? New sump?

I had an 06 TBSS that ate a rod bearing around 40k miles. Quite common from what I was told. My solution was to sell it after GM put a new engine in it.

Yeah I juss bought an ls2 out of a tbss, something is wrong with it and after a quick google search spun rod bearings look like a common problem with them. It has something to do with not enough oil, the pump, or oil pan I believe. I'd like to know more about this too, like how to fix it.

Not real sure how this could only be LS2 specific. It must be a flaw in the pan setup on the GTO and the TBSS. All LS motors pretty much have the same oiling system except for the dry sump.

Yeah that's what it sounds to me like it the goofy oil pan on the tbss. But it looked like the info I found was to run an extra quart? But I got the motor from a dealership, has 90, 000 on it, but vehicle was bought there and they had all records for maintainence, but if they juss put the regular amount of oil in it and nobody checked it between changes then that could be the problem.

But I'm with the op, would I have any problems if I built this ls2? It will be going into a camaro so won't be using the original pan.

Trailblazer SS has a crazy filter setup on the opposite side of the pan and from the main feed galley down the side of the block and a front sump setup that sucks. Run remote oil filter directly off the driver side rear oil galley plug and cap the pan to avoid more trouble. They make a filter cap for doing this on the SS. If it 2 wheel drive use a C6 oilpan and convert it.

The rod bearing problem is from the front sump oil system on the GTO and TBSS. It's not an LS2 problem.
