Default Oil Pump, swap or not?

Ok, so I have a L76 that I am deleting the DOD and VVT, Installing a EPS 230/242 cam, springs and pushrods. The oil pump in it is a hi pressure style pump I believe, would it hurt to run it after the mods or should I swap it out for a stock lS2 unit.

The reason I am asking more than anything is I keep hearing about folks running hi volume/pressure pumps and wonder why change it out seeing is it is a hi pressure pump. Can the spring just be swapped out? If it needs to go what one is recommended?

LSX motors are new to me, I have never worked on much of anything but first gen sbc, 350,383,408's.

Thanks,
Mike

I'm not sure if the L99 and the L76 share the same pump BUT an Ls2 pump is no better in quality that's for sure lol. If I was in the middle of a build I'd just get a melling just because of the better materials and components and the option to leave the high pressure spring in it. I have had the same melling for about ~30k miles. I had it in my Ls1 and now my stroker. Just my .2
