Thoughts on manta stripe
I have a silver 02 Camaro. Im thinking about doing the manta stripe in black . Any thoughts? Im thinking about laying it down then laying clear coat over top of it and sanding it down so you cant feel its there. I think its a pretty neat idea, but i wanted to see if anyone has done it and how it went. I think itll look pretty sharp. Silver car with SS hood, grill, and spoiler. Manta stripe. ccw sp500 18" wheels with 315mm tires in the back. Smoke the tail lights, and get the inlay of the word "camaro" painted black. What you guys think?

sounds like it should be looking pretty good when it's done. I was told by a shop that it wasn't the best idea to clear coat over the vinyl stripes. I asked bout doing the same when I put the stripes on my car. But never asked around to other shops to see if that was the general consensus. For the tinted tails, they always look best IMO using clear coat with some black paint mixed in, take it to a shop to get it done. VHT has a purple tint it gives the lights... I've been living with that look for years now, and I still hate it lol. luckily it's not noticeable during the day if you really black out the lights. but I will eventually get them redone at a shop.

I was thinking about painting it but i really didnt see a stencil for the paint. Id rather paint it. I guess ill have to look around some more for a stencil kit. Ive also decided to get my windows tinted. Something like 20-30% all the way around.
also ive decided to stay away from the ccw sp500 wheels because of the cost lol. probably gonna do that same style and pick up some c5 18" wheels with a deep dish on the back.

Sounds like a nice setup. And as for the clear over the stripes/vinyl i did it to mines when i laid down the 35th anniversary stripes. And i get alot of compkiments about it. Some people think they were painted on. Id say do it. Not many people do plus it will help them not peel and it wouls look shiny.

I did a black painted "manta" on my Silver Z28... but I also carried the theme of silver/black through out the rest of the car. I.E. black wheels, tint, debadged, gloss black "berger" and of course the sail panel is already gloss black. I may have a pic or two laying around...
