Default My 01 camaro ss V.S 99 Cobra with R badge Great DAY

What's up fellas Im coming out of south carolina from attending a friends wedding I'm with my fiance headed to georgia to visit family when all of a suddent im cruising at around 75/80 MPH when off the exit comes what I can see is a black mustang. I notice once he gains speed that it has a cobra on the grill and I start to Grin LOL, I was thinking it was a terminator but I noticed it was a older model cobra.

My Fiance is not paying attention and playing on her phone when all of a sudden he gets close and we crusie a little in and out of traffic. I had to all of a sudden get on the throttle a little to go around a couple cars including him. So of course he bites and I see him jump behind me. We line up and slows down and traffic clears to get a good run in. All of a sudden we hit it at the same time and I start to pull but some idiot pulls in front of us. So on the next three runs we did a 50/60 mph run; and his girlfriend counted it of and I pulled about a car and a half to three cars immediately and held him off until about 110/120 and shut it down all four runs were all the same and seemed that I was gaining more as we gained speed and on the last couple runs for sure.

Great guy he followed me off the exit and I got gas. He gave me a lot of respect and I did the same with his car. My fiance and his girlfriend was talking about how scared they were; and how guys will be guys lol. I was happy with the results. I was smiling the whole time i was pulling away lol I had to keep my composure while we were talking to him, He seemed very suprised that my car was a A4 LOL he said all runs were him starting in 3rd gear and he had a 5 speed.

His mods were a intake and muffles he said; I have a SLP intake, bbk long tubes and magnaflow catback, and dyno tune by frost, 323 gears UMI strut tower brace and Subframe connectors. He had a R badge on the back of his car, so I knew it was maybe a performance version of the cobra . I'm about to look up any specs on that model year any help and input would be much appreciated. Does this sound about right from a race perspective. We both have passangers and I had a car full of luggage and gifts. So I might have been a tad bit heavier for sure.

If he had back seats, a radio, and a huge wing, then the R badge stands for "rice." If it was a true cobra R it shouldve been a bit closer race but im sure you still wouldve won.

Nice run though, at least seemed like a cool guy.

They only made Cobra R's in 93/95/00 and none were black.

Im not going to lie I grinned knowing he wanted to run but was a little nervous because I thought it was a 03 lol I know it would have been a different story all together lol i told him it would have been a little better for me going from a dig.... and I think that I might have needed a couple more mods for even a slightly modded terminator lol

It's always nice to meet up with the person after and have a respectable car conversation instead of having some idiot that can't take a loss and won't look over at you after the race. Good kill!

I am not saying I don't street race, but if you do it where someone can pull out in front of you he is not the idiot. Good kill though.

Negative, a stock ls1 would not beat a 2000 Cobra R.

OP nice kill, our cars are slow from the factory.

Not true.

93's came in black, teal and an off red (looks redish-orange).
95's came in white.
00's came in the off red color.

The colors you listed for 93 are for the regular Cobras. Cobra Rs were red with black wheels.

Hmm, no cobra expert but i found this.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ford_Mu...a#1995_Cobra_R

1993 Cobra "R"
Each of the 107 produced were offered in Vibrant Red only

???? '94 Mustang as an option, painted gloss black

1995 Cobra R
Only 250 vehicles were built, available only in white with saddle cloth interior

2000 Cobra R
Each of the 300 produced featured a charcoal interior with cloth clad Recaro buckets and sporting a Performance Red exterior.

EDIT: OP good races, IMO they are the only good running mustangs of those years.

Yeah but a bolt on ls1 should be able to give him a run for his money. In a straight line of course, on a track, the cobra r would definately win.

A friend of mine has a yellow supercharged Cobra and it's a monster. It's got a high perf cam, smaller S/C pulley, CAI plus headers with no cats. I'm not sure of the year but I'd say its an early 2000 something. It sounds downright nasty and looks good too.
