Default DIY ls1 to 5.0 k member guys step in.

Tonight I started measuring for motor mounts. I centered the motor in the car and started measuring. According to my measurements, driverside will almost two inches shorter then the passenger. Did you guys make mirror image mounts or did you center and build. Thanks for your input guys.

I centered the motor in the car. Measured the back and front of the motor compartment then ran masking tape from back to the front and centered the motor.that way you end up with 2.different size mounts

Take some pics of the process and how your doing it. Thinking about using the stock 5.0 k-member myself, just not sure on getting the motor centered correctly.

Mine are pretty much identical. I used 4.6 mounts, elongated the tab and built 1/4in shim plates, then added a 1/2in thick piece of rubber so vibration would be minimal. And then i got a team z k member for a steal so it was a waste of time haha.

See I tried using .5 inch plate and 4.6 solid mounts. Drivers is about where I need it, passenger has about 1.5-2 inch gap. And they out the engine about 3 inches to far forward.

Hmm maybe my k member was modified, i know the previous owner had a sbc in it. I kinda had a suspicion that the engine mount slots were elongated since the oil pan would hit the steering rack. Mine seem to sit in a good location, the intake sat about 2in from the firewall
