How Rare are Stripper model Fbodys?
Im looking at the possibility of swapping my 94 in sig to a clean rust free 97 Firebird 3.8 5spd shell with the stripper interior which from my opinion is kind of a rare feature as i hardly ever see it optioned and buyers most of the time would stay clear as its missing those features. Its a hardtop without roll up windows and no power locks. I would assume it has A/C at this point but havent gone to see it in person yet to verify.
I was heavily debating to part the car due all the cash and time ive spent on it and it having a rough body and underside it just pissed me off more i kept driving it. Friend of mine is trying to get me to give it one more shot and find a clean rust free v6 firebird to convert everything over to it and clean it up along the way. Figure by the time im done swapping one from the other and what i dont keep will evenutally pay for itself and then some and have a nicer rust free car to enjoy.

Yes sorry I ment with rollup windows.
They are bottom of the barrel but maybe its just me but I've never seen one in person and rarely on the net or maybe its just me. Just wondering if they are they are low production optioned cars? Plan is to keep it a firebird since its a different color then my 94 and lighten it up a bit along the way which is why its attracted my attention being a "stripper" already.

Thanks for the kind words Phil. The car is pretty clean for a 366,000km body but I've already patched the floors which are now solid but the rust is still in a lot of placed under the car and starting in the rear fender lips. Pain shines real nice but has dings and scratches all over it and the soor skins are starting to seperate casing the windows seals to leak. Hence why I wanted to part it but even with all the perf goodies I got into it I think its going to be hard to get the money out of it to part it.
BTW: Phil do you still want pics of those ls brakes?

Thats too bad man. How long have you had it??
I find that especially the Lt1 Fbodys are dropping in price around here. I bought mie a year and a half ago, with just 100,000km for under 5k, im the 3rd owner, and it was completely stock. It would eb sweet to find something similar and just move over the goodies.
Yeah, would still be interested in pics for the brakes if you dont mind. I bought some c5 magnesium wheels, which show alot of brake, and think they may look a bit better... Thanks.

Ive looked for any 93-97 fbody with manual windows befor, since id rather have them then power in a fbody. They are actually a little hard to come by, but like said Im not sure if its rare.
One thing that you arnt going to like for me to say is that the swap is not that easy. there are alot of differences in a 97 then a 94. OBD1 and OBD2 being the biggest. The dash harness has its problems as well. The easiest way to swap a lt1 v8 into a v6 car is to go year for year. If you can find a 94 base, you would be cutting alot of the electrical work out of the equation. Putting your stuff into a 97 can be done, its just how much work you really want to do.
I also do not know of the price thats involved in such a swap. Have you had your current car looked at? sounds like you could do the rust repairsdone, buy some new doors for it, and repaint the thing all at the same time and have a better car then a v6 swap.
just depends how much you like it I suppose.

I have come to find that the newer the V8 model (closer to 2002) the harder to find one without PW. My 99 is an 1LE but is rare. Also probably easier to find a manual window Camaro over a Formula and really hard to find a manual window equipped Trans Am. V6 cars are probably very common with manual windows.

I've got a 2000 base v6 sitting around that only has a/c and rear defroster as options. Had manual seats, windows, locks, mirrors, hard top etc. Rare to find that on an 8 cylinder but not too rare to find that stuff. I agree with the year to year swap if you want to keep all the crap working like a/c, abs, air bags, and so on.
No, but they go up and down every time!

And only on ls1tech do people brag about having stripper cars.
