Why did you stick with the stock compression ratio?

Stock compression? If you have 66cc chambers, say...5cc valve reliefs, the pistons still pop .007" out of the hole (like stock), and you use a .46-.52 gasket (which I think is clost to stock and/or the felpro set...you're at like 10.8-11:1.

Something is off. 66cc is less than 1cc under stock, the valve reliefs (if he has them)are going to drop it a bit. If everything else is the same, he's going to be around stock compression. I just don't understand why they didn't bump it up to 10.8:1 - 11.0:1. It would help out that cam quite a bit and bring a little of his torque back in.
Not bad at all, congratulations! The results are similar to my all-bore numbers peak wise (although I have about 7ci on you) , Id love to see the graph because that 109 LSA is probably giving you really nice area under the curve too.
My best dyno was 478/455, last dyno after it got rebuilt was 475/450. Im using a 242/242 lunati cam, LS6 intake, same rear, qtp 1 3/4" headers, cutout. If you arent using a cutout, thats a good idea for the track and will pick you up some more ponies.
Looks like we'd be a pretty close race again...remember when you had a T1 and I had a B1 and we were running at beaver springs? Be fun to see how they stack up now.

the stroke matters. with a 4" stroke...its 10.8+. with a 3.622" its 10.0

First of all they was me..built it with the help of a buddy. I was hoping for a little higher compression ratio but I think the valve reliefs and extra stroke are about a wash. I ran it on 92 octane without a hint of detonation. I did not want a high lift cfm LS6 head since it is 99% daily driver and 1% track and an extra $1000 without core. Im sure with small cc LS6/4.8L heads and all the other tricks it would have been well over 500rwhp..the big headers are hurting the bottom end too. Maybe Im wrong..but this is how I drive it everyday..no dyno tricks..or exotic parts
Cool Eric..but why would a cut out be better than a loudmouth?:)
Maybe I'll go sleeved block and race heads next time.....and give up city drivin...

Wow, big testament to Rapids LS1 stage 2 heads. Nice setup!
Mike~ These heads any different from the typcal stage 2s you use in 346 applications?

No, actually these are designed for stock cubes. Sam opted to give them a shot as I had them on the shelf when he needed a set. I think he is a happy camper. Our heads are known to make lots of torque.

Very nice setup.. Thats a nice sized cam.. How does it idle? What rpm?

This is a Rapid custom specified cam that I originally intended for a 422 CI motor but has worked well in smaller displacement motors. It lopes real hard but if tuned right, runs real well on the street. It will idle as low as 950 rpm in a 382 but I opted for 1000 to smooth things out a little. At 950 it sounds like a pro-mod car :D

Today was a good day...took off work...dynoed some great numbers..met some cool people....and had a beautiful girl wrenching on my car...does it get any better?... If your ever in Harrisburg give me a holler Susan..I.O.U. lol. Im sure I'll see you kicking ass at the track.
Big thanks to my buddy Mark..PAZ06..for all his help and couldnt have done it without him...now he is off building the baddest tow vehicle around...496 stroker Suburban..cant wait to dyno that..
Cam sounds wicked...need to lower the idle mikey so it lopes real hard......bummmpppittyy bummmpp

honestly with that size cam and a 90mm lsx, your numbers seem a little low.... assuming you have ASP's also. I would think closer to 500rwhp and 460+ rwtq would be closer. what kind of dyno was it?

Notice the cam peak at 6350. We could have made 10-15 more hp and more torque if the cam was retarded. But it would have moved the peak too high. This is what some folks are doing to post up high dyno numbers. We opted to make the package useable instead. You don't want to spin a stroker motor too high so we put the cam in straight up to keep the peak down. This car will run very well at the track. Heck, my motor hp peaks at 6400 and runs 9.70's all day.

My car is probably just a streetable as yours, I run 93 gas at 10.8-11.0:1 CR, drive it on the street (but it is not my daily driver anymore), and drove it three hours each way (about an hour through stop and go traffic) yesterday to have an roll-cage put in at ECS. The parts that make it less streetable, and you'll probably agree, are the ram clutch, rear w/4.11s whining away, and torque arm which makes shifts less smooth and low speed maneuvering more of a pain in the a**.
I would definately get pulled over with a loudmouth...how are you getting away with that?? That must be loud as h*ll and drone like mad on the highway.
Anyhow, American Iron Shootout 3 is at cecil next saturday, see if you can go!

Nice thing about Sam's package, he put it together himself (an ammature) and it was perfect. No JPR jerk around.

So TRUE!!!

Damn straight! I tip my hat off to sam (and his buddy) because it is all the sweeter when you can do the work yourself.

Actually I like the loudmouth...only drone is at 2200-2500 in low gears...cruises nice.
No more Ram clutch...went spec s3 and like it alot better.
See if the torque arm comes this week....
I dont know what the hell you would do with more torque...1st gear is useless now.

Your motor will easily run 12.0:1+ CR on 92 with that cam. The full point in CR will give you gobs of power and punch down low and get you 15rwhp+ on top.
Great job on the motor....enjoy.

mikey, what would need to be changed on this setup to make it have a flatter tq curve, yet still retain the most torque possible? would 400 RWTQ be possible with the same cam by 2500 rpm or so?? i dont want to rev it too the moon, just have gobs of low end tq..

Congrats to you for your home built motor, and Mikey for his heads and tuning. Those are darn good numbers, and you didn't add the weight of an iron block to the front of your car. :D Get it to the track and have some fun. :burn:

Lower the duration and widen the lober seperation. E-mail me or call me if you are looking for a cam. I can spec one for you. Our cams are tailored to your needs.

Wow it finally dawned on me whats going on here. All of you guys looking at my dyno graph and no one mentioned it. Nearly every graph posted here starts out at 3000-3500rpm. We posted mine at 2000rpms because we were working on timing at throttle tip in. My rpm scale is stretched way out. I think the bottom end torque is misleading because this thing hits hard and can spin easily. Too bad we all arent comparing apples to apples like i posted in the other thread.
Mikey worked on the timing/driveability alot. Definately got my moneys worth.
